People and Expertise

At eLeasing, experience runs deep.

Our team has worked within some of Australia’s leading property groups and retail brands, bringing insight, negotiation finesse and an unwavering commitment to achieving the right result for every client.

Peter Burdon-Smith

With more than thirty years of experience across retail property and leasing, Peter Burdon-Smith brings a rare dual perspective to the industry. His career spans senior leadership roles with Australia’s major property owners and advisory work with retailers on growth and portfolio strategies.

Peter has held leadership positions with respected organisations including Westfield, AMP Capital, QIC, Multiplex and Mirvac, where he served as Director of Retail Leasing. Across these roles, he has delivered and overseen large-scale retail and mixed-use developments valued in the billions, leading strategies in leasing, development integration, asset repositioning and retailer engagement.

This combination of landlord-side expertise and retail consulting experience gives Peter a unique ability to bridge the commercial objectives of property owners with the operational realities of retailers.

His balanced perspective ensures outcomes that are both strategically sound and commercially sustainable.

Known for his pragmatic, relationship-driven approach, Peter unites developers, investors, retailers and designers around a clear commercial vision. He brings calm, strategic leadership to negotiations, always focused on unlocking value and creating environments where both landlords and retailers can succeed.

Through eLeasing, Peter applies this experience to help landlords build stronger, high-performing tenant mixes and to assist retailers in securing positions that align with their brand, customer and growth ambitions.

Julie Lanham

With more than twenty-five years’ experience in retail property and leasing strategy, Julie Lanham brings a rare mix of commercial insight, pragmatism and negotiation finesse to retail brands expanding across Australia and New Zealand.

Julie works directly with retailers to manage every part of their property portfolios — from new-store site selection and lease renewals to relocations, due-diligence for acquisitions and network optimisation. Her strength lies in translating each brand’s vision and financial goals into a clear, actionable property plan that drives performance and growth.

Having worked on both sides of the leasing equation “advising landlords and representing retailers” Julie understands how deals are structured and how landlords think. This dual perspective allows her to position retailers for the best possible commercial and operational outcomes.

Her career spans leadership roles with some of Australia’s most respected property groups, including Westfield, Stockland and QIC. She later joined TK Maxx Australia at market entry as Head of Property, where she built the entire property function; from leasing and legal through to design, construction, procurement and facilities management.

Julie’s approach is grounded in understanding each retailer’s brand DNA. Every site, lease and negotiation is shaped to reflect that brand’s customer experience, aesthetic and long-term commercial strategy. Known for her analytical depth and transparent communication, she is trusted for her ability to get deals done quickly and collaboratively.

Through eLeasing, Julie helps retailers scale with confidence; securing the right locations, the right commercial terms and the right partnerships to succeed in a changing retail landscape.
